Since there are so many different insurance plans, it is the patient’s responsibility to understand their own policy and to know whether podiatry care is a covered benefit.
As an enrollee of a managed care plan (HMO or PPO) that we are contracted with, you are required to pay the co-payment each time you are seen. Co-payments are due at the time of service.
In addition to the copayment, most insurance plans also have an annual deductible, as well as co-insurance. This is also your responsibility. The deductible is the amount of expenses that must be paid out of pocket before an insurer will pay any expenses. Coinsurance is a percentage of a provider’s charge that you may be required to pay after you’ve met the deductible this is usually about 20% of the allowable charge.
A 25% courtesy discount is offered to patients without insurance that pay in full at the time of service.
